Eat Yourself Brilliant. Nutrition – a vital part of exam preparation.
Research on the science of sports performance shows that even a naturally talented athlete, who has carefully followed a well-structured and well-designed training plan, will seriously under perform if they have the wrong nutritional strategy.
However, what, when and how we eat doesn’t only affects power, strength and endurance, it also impacts working memory, problem solving, concentration, anxiety and our quality sleep. Poor sleep further resulting in poor memory recall, weaker long-term memory processing and low mental agility.
Most schools are either about to run mock exams or have already begun the long run into the real thing in the summer. The syllabus has been covered and practicals run, study skills and exam technique have been taught and hard revision is going on. Might now also be the time to look at nutrition?
My ‘Eat Yourself Brilliant’ workshop is aimed at children who are preparing for exams. It concentrates on five areas of eating behavior in which small easy changes will help exam performance. Completely based on the latest scientific research, the session covers basic healthy eating advice, as well as the foods and behaviors that enhance performance and advice on how to avoid common pitfalls.
